Physical Therapist Assistant - Floater

This is a PRN PTA position for Newport, Greeneville, Morristown, and Kodak.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff PTA Floater is responsible for the administration of rehabilitation services within their assigned clinics in a manner consistent with BenchMark's mission and values. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, treatment of patients, keeping supervisor informed of issues/needs, supervision of PT Tech, regular communication with referral sources and modeling professional behavior. This PTA Staff Floater will be available to travel to various clinics within their assigned region and will receive reimbursement for traveling.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education - Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program. Continuing education is required to maintain licensure.
Licensure - Requires current licensure in state where assigned.
Skills - Ability to model positive behavior, organize and maintain work flow, work with minimal supervision and exercise independent clinical judgment. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrate effective follow-through in implementing the goals/objectives of the organization, and be willing to follow directives. Also have the ability to travel within the assigned region.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification - CPR
Experience - Prefer experience in the outpatient rehabilitation setting.
JOB FUNCTIONSDirect Patient Care
Utilizes and follows appropriate clinical protocols and practice patterns.
Follows appropriate treatment goals and plans of care established by supervising PT in the clinic assigned as a PRN Staff PTA.
Administers appropriate treatment and assesses patient response.
Communicates patient response, as needed, to supervising PT.
Documents treatment, patient's response to treatment, patient's progress toward goals and reason for continuation of therapy on daily note in a manner that reflects "skilled care" and the medical necessity of treatment.
Takes responsibility for ongoing treatment and ensures that the patient's physical and functional problems that were identified upon eval or re-eval are being addressed.
Completes evals, daily notes and progress notes accurately, legibly and promptly.
Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling patient visits in order to meet the needs of the patient and/or referral source.
Participates in periodic chart audits as directed by supervisor to ensure compliance with professional and organizational documentation standards.
Delegates responsibility for patient care in a manner consistent with legal and professional standards of practice
Communication
Influences peers in a way that reinforces the standards for performance communicated by the organization and their immediate supervisor.
Gives feedback regarding performance and clinic issues to immediate supervisor.
Accepts constructive feedback
Attends and participates in monthly clinic meetings and in-services.
Keeps supervisor informed of issues, needs and the successes of the clinic.
Focuses on positive, effective problem/complaint resolution with internal and external customers and explores every avenue to meet customer needs.
Works to create a positive work environment for staff and patients.
Is proactive in communicating progress and/ or patient care issues to the supervising PT.

Supports organizational changes and required clinic changes.
Maintains commitment to customer service even when things are changing.
Is willing and takes initiative to get things done.
Handles stress and copes with problems and frustrations.
Is responsive: on time for meetings, returns phone calls in a timely manner, meets deadlines and meets commitments.

Communicates regularly with supervising PT.
Resource Management
Seeks to provide quality treatment sessions as efficiently as possible.
Looks for areas of improvement to decrease costs and/or increase productivity.
Considers the necessity of new equipment or resources before requesting additional resources.
Demonstrates support for organizational goals by maximizing available time and resources in the delivery of patient care.
Seeks to provide billable services to each patient.
Ensures that documentation and the units charged reflect the time and care provided each patient.
Marketing
Supports the monthly Medical Director meetings via periodic attendance or scheduling in a manner that allows supervisor to attend.
Works with supervisor, marketing and occupational program staff and assists them in building and maintaining referral relationships within the physician and workers comp community (i.e.: follows-through on opportunities to visit/meet/communicate with referral sources.)
Assists supervisor in identifying new markets and/or incremental programs within their clinic.
Supports community outreach efforts via direct participation or scheduling in manner that enables them to occur.
Teaching
Introduces and demonstrates new techniques, equipment or research findings to staff.
Assists in the coordination of the physical therapy student program for the clinic.
Supports inservice training at the clinic where therapists or physicians present a topic.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
